‡ Vanity Fair ‡ asked: I’m really only doing this for fun But tell me what you think so far.
The faerie ran down the hill as fast as she could go. “Oh I have to tell them we have to leave. We have to hide. Why would the king do this? Ugh he must be an idiot!” the beautiful faerie muttered furiously.
When she reached the valley she stopped and looked around for her friends. Then she saw Ace (another faerie) sitting on a stump eating some carrot sticks.
“Ace! Where is everybody?” she asked.
Ace looked up in surprise “Oh it’s you Delmari. I don’t know where they went. I came back from the market and they were all gone.” He said sadly.
“What do you mean gone? They can’t be gone!” Delmari said angrily. “I have something important to tell them!” Faeires just didn’t leave part of there people behind. Not even for a joke. Something must have frightened them away Delmari thought.
“Well I don’t know where they went! And what’s so important that you have to tell them anyway?” Ace replied.
“Well then you have to help me find them because guess what Ace! The king wants all faeries brought to him!” Delmari yelled.
“What do you mean? Which king? Not the king of Kleeck “ Ace said shocked. His mouth was hanging open in shock and Delmari would have laughed if this weren’t so series.
“Yes the king of Kleeck. King Terrel. I was in town and Adda warned me about it. She said she didn’t know why he wants all the faeries but he’s offering 200 gold pieces per faerie!” A sudden thought came to Delmari, what if someone caught her people and were taking them to the king right now? Ace must have thought the same thing.
“Someone must have come here and taken them. Oh no.” Ace whispered he seemed dazed.
“Yes. But now we are going to get them back.” Delmari said. “And you’re going to help me.”
Delmari grabbed Ace’s arm and pulled him up.
And they ran into the forest or Keelck towards the royal palace.
“Delmari let’s stop now. Please. We’ve been walking all night and I’m tired.” Ace complained. He was right too they had been walking briskly all night without stopping once. It was now close to dawn and the suns rays were peeking over the mountains.
“Fine, but only for a few hours.” Delmari agreed.
“Okay,” Ace said yawning. He plopped down on a pile of grass, folded his wings and was asleep in less than a minute. Delmari took a bit longer to fall asleep. She curled up next to Ace but couldn’t go to sleep. She thought about her people. And about what was happening to them right now. Kleeck took about a week to get to if you had horses and were traveling fast. Two 17-year-old faeries on foot it would take probably three weeks. They thought about flying but decided it would be to risky, if the king was offering 200 gold pieces per faerie then a lot of people would be faerie hunting. And the first place they looked would be the sky.
Why was King Terrel after faeries? He had always been kind to faeries before. Better than most kings Delmari’s grandmamma had said. Maybe a faerie played a trick on him. Delmari smiled at the thought of a faerie tricking a king. Faeries are always playing tricks on someone. But that’s just who we are and most people think it’s funny (as long as it’s not happening to them).
Delmari eventually fell asleep with visions of a faerie laughing at a king.
“Hey Delmari wake up.” Ace said softly shaking her shoulder.
“Hmmm. Go ‘way.” She mumbled sleepily.
“No we gotta go now.” Ace persisted.
“Fine. I’m up.” Delmari sat up and rubbed her eyes. It was twilight now. “Oh wow we must have overslept.”
“Yeah we did so now we got to go,” Ace told her.
“’Kay.” Delmari said and stood up. Ace stood up too. “Let’s go.”
They began walking again through the forest again.
Ace spoke after a few minutes. He must have been wondering this all night. “Umm Delmari what are we supposed to do when we reach the palace? Are we just going to ask the king to let our people go?” Delmari stopped walking she hadn’t thought about that. What were they going to do? If they went near the palace they would be stopped by the guards and everybody would immediately know they were faeries. They couldn’t very well hide their wings.
“I don’t know but we’ll think of something.” Delmari replied and began walking again. “We aren’t going to just leave our kin there.”
“I know but we could find someone to help us and tell us why they king wants us.” Ace suggested.
“And who will we go to Ace?” Delmari said spinning around to face him. He looked a little hurt by her outburst and Delmari immediately regretted her harsh words. “I’m sorry I shouldn’t snap at you like this. It’s not your fault.”
This is as far as I’ve gotten.
Honest…honestly
